Borrell Shares Expertise at Almond & Nut Conference in Argentina
Catamarca, Argentina. On May 12 and 13, the province of Catamarca hosted the Fruit Growing Conference: Almond and Nut Cultivation, an event that brought together local and international experts to explore the potential of this sector and share experiences to help boost the production and commercialization of almonds and nuts.
Organized by the Ministry of Productive Development of Catamarca, the event aimed to strengthen fruit growing in the region through knowledge exchange. On Monday, May 12, activities began at 10:00 AM with registration and presentations, followed by technical talks on topics such as almond tree behavior, pecan cultivation in arid zones, and nut production in the Central Valley.
José Roig Borrell, General Director of José Borrell S.A. and CEO of Borrell USA Corp, closed Monday’s program with his presentation, "Processing Nuts with Ingenuity: Efficiency, Technology, and Good Performance," delivered at 5:00 PM, where he shared his experience in the nut industry.
The second day, Tuesday, May 13, included a trip to the city of Andalgalá, with a visit to the “Los Almendros” farm. It included an on-site productive experience and a tour led by expert Jorge Ovalle, along with practical workshops on almond cultivation, nut nutrition, and post-harvest processing equipment.
The conference proved to be a valuable learning opportunity for producers, technicians, and entrepreneurs interested in fruit growing in Catamarca. The event concluded on Tuesday at 4:30 PM with a summary panel and a coffee break.
